The Advanced Metering Gateway
System, designated as RS-SE-301, is a
complete IEEE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi based solution
to monitor and control the usage of utilities
such as electricity, gas and water meters.
The RS-SE-301 functions as a central communication
node and policy manager for the home.
It enables smart energy management by
establishing a two way communication link
from the utility to the energy meter and
other smart energy appliances within the
home It helps enhance the efficiency of
utility networks and reduces cost through
wireless remote management and access
to real time usage information. As a key
system component in the Redpine’s
WinergyNet™ architecture which provides
seamless, secure and cost-effective communications
for Smart Energy Management based on 802.11n
Wi-Fi®, the RS-SE-301 system leverages
existing Wi-Fi networks and existing
utility networking infrastructure to enable
rapid Smart Grid deployment.. The RS-SE-301
module is a complete solution for building
Smart Meters with open interfaces to utility
management, accounting and billing systems.
It includes full-featured Access Point
functionality with enterprise security;
and its scalable operating system provides
a convenient platform and policy framework
for the development of several smart energy
applications. The RS-SE-301 implements
a DLMS compliant meter server stack that
runs over a TCP/IP network with support
for IPSec termination. The system also
supports 802.11s mesh networking to expand
network coverage by relaying information
through other Advanced Metering Gateway
units or other Wi-Fi mesh nodes.
